Abhigyata’s visit to Government schools:A Heartwarming Experience

The team of Abhigyata, visited a number of Government established and managed schools. The itinerary for the munificent program was planned by the management team lead by the founder Saima Soni and co-founder Kabeer Patil. The concept was idealized and sought after, to provide support to the efficiently versatile teachers who make sure to take care of the children present under, many a times even going beyond of the facilities provided to them by the government and taking measures on their own behalf as righteous mentors.

The plan commenced by interacting with both, the teachers and students separately. Even though the teachers mentioned a low dropout rate and a larger ratio of female students in comparison to that of male students, the team could notice the lack of basic hygiene measures, congested classrooms and careless nature of parents. The parents were least bothered about the education of their children, completely levying the responsibility on the teachers. While inside the school premises, the teachers are expected to maintain every educational resource for the children with bare minimum help from the government, influential leaders or the NGOs, which only visit once, make promises for true changes and are never seen again.

The team took their time to help the children with some fun reading practices, in order to help and understand their holistic development. Some of these kids were quite fluent and showed a promising nature towards studies; however, a lack of resources was evident at the school and in the confidence of these children. The team decided to encourage them by offering a little treat for showing the courage to come up and read a few pages for the class. Even though, absolute fluency was difficult, these little mascots of the golden days of innocence and courage, by the support of our volunteers, indulged learning programs created for them.

The reading exercises followed a round of an inclusive game, which helped the children jog up their instincts. The rules of the game were simple, a randomly selected student was assigned a single alphabet of Hindi, the selected student would have to follow up by answering with a word that starts with the same alphabet. The team went around in round, interacting with the little cubs. The little ones too were true enthusiasts and accepted efforts by the team as learning opportunities, the day’s success is also credited to them.

Towards the end, the Founder had a chat with the teachers of these government established schools, learning about the true ground realities and bringing out the stories of the bold teachers who take upon the role of the management when all authorities above have failed to be of any help. In it’s true essence, the teachers are the gardeners in a dessert, working rigorously and relentlessly to bloom beautiful saplings that can shoulder the future and end the limitless desert. change, the entire organization has decided to do whatever is possible in each’s ability to help these children, students and schools, in order to secure our future.
